A Day of Days

It is apparently that sort of day. Sarah is well, the cats are well through no fault of their own, Dan is not allowed to lift that, my husband very kindly bought me a new smartphone which has occasioned significant maledictions at programmers and is now mostly beaten into shutting up, but at least the weather is fine.

So, for your entertainment, here are a few pictures of interest. If you should feel so inclined, drop a few words about what is happening, perhaps a flash fiction or a scene, in the comments.

    1. She looked at me. I looked at her. Pretty young thing. But my being a couple of decades on the other side of middle age means a wealth of experience, not all of it good. And I could tell she was nothing but trouble, especially when she started walking toward me.

      1. “Modern architecture, but this one has enough greenery that it would look good if kept well maintained.”

I do seriously wonder about the structure, and the materials.

Would not look good in a historic city, but would fit the correct surroundings.

      2. And it read Frank Lloyd Wright on a really bad acid trip or Frank Lloyd Wright and Paolo Soleri had a baby (there are some issues with that mind you…) to me.

  2. It was never clear whether she had a particularly good nose for trouble, or the trouble had a very good nose for her. Which is why her mother had commissioned a mecha to watch over her, and her father had insisted on it being a giant mecha. Which hadn’t really helped the problem, and might have made it worse.

      1. I run into that intermittently: I’m logged in, but it won’t let me like or post without asking for credentials…. and then not accepting them.

        Workaround:

        1. Click on the “gear icon” next to the gravatar. It will say you’re logged in. It lies.
        2. Click the logout.
        3. Click the WordPress Icon to login. The same autofilled values it refused to accept are now just fine.
        4. Continue. That usually holds for approximately a day.

My guess is that the Security coder at WP didn’t cleanly handle cookie expiration requiring re-login. WPDE.

  3. As Fgqwrwv brought the crippled ship down, the full weight of his errors frimpled in his midgut: This was not outpost 45026, and what he’d read as an emergency docking cradle was some sort of primitive monument–and it probably didn’t have any containment field for a powerplant rapid rupture, either

  4. Late in life, Lugrove began to regret all the dirty, smoke-belching factories that had made him an agorophobic trillionaire. He commissioned a private forest from Jolly Green Giant architects. Only when it was finished did he discover that his hay fever responded to almost everything that geew in the woods.
