I apologize profoundly

For no extraordinary promo tonight. Younger son and the Little Pickle (younger DIL) came by bearing board game, and…. it took much longer than I expected.

I’m so sorry.

  1. Sometimes fun must take priority and family. I hope a good time was had by all. 👍✌️

  2. I must shamefacedly admit to not having bought anything from any of the Extraordinary Promo posts to date, but am delighted by this news. You should be prioritizing your own health! To paraphrase a frequently abused Famous Quotation: If you’re not for yourself, who will be for you?

  3. My book budget (for very loose values of “budget”) has been abused by the promo posts. That’s my story and I’m sticking too it. The TBR stack is getting impressive.

TL;DR: Lots of really good books in these promos…

  4. So, what was the game? My own sons often bring along a new game, and POOF! there goes the evening. Worse things could happen, for sure.

        1. Think more like “typical” not “normal”. Anyway, I suspect many of that age group are used to socializing over online games, so socializing over in-person board games is good too. Even better, since they can pull in the whole “family” (defined as however you want it).

You’re not likely* to get the parents involved in a first person shooter, although listening in while they get trash talking online is kind of amusing.

*My oldest son is in a group of regular gamers that get together every week. One is a woman even older than us who joined in while watching her son play, so it’s not impossible to get the parents involved.

          1. Our son gets together with a regular group of gamers, every Saturday afternoon/evening through dinner. Board games. Not computer games.

        2. Look, I’ve heard a lot of this from people our age. Well… fifties to sixties. Their adult kids are big time board game players. It’s a TREND for socializing. WHY I don’t know.

          1. Not like our son doesn’t computer game too. But the together social interaction is board games. He is the above demographic with parents over 50 (I’m not over 70, yet).

      1. Board games are incredibly popular in my culture; maybe it’s spreading outside the Latter-day Saints.
