  1. Pictured: Fr Cassidy, communion wafer quality control. The wafer must be without spot or blemish before being placed in a FOUP for distribution to a parish.

Philosophers: I think, therefore I’m banned. “This is for the trolley problem, isn’t it?”

Death Certificate site: Ok, so we’re just discriminating against the undead, again?

Wensday: sure, after we end daylight savings time. Priorities!

Goose/Horse: Now imagining a flock of Pegasus (Pegasii?) terrorizing a city…

    1. As far as taking away the warning labels, my dad was a detective in Los Angeles, during the rise of the Drug Culture. His opinion was that they should make dope legal, because there were users who weren’t a problem, and users who were. By legalizing dope, the second group would CEASE to be a problem. Rapidly. And the financial incentive to get people hooked would go away.

You missed it. The Online Death Certificate Request is so that Democrats can prove eligibility to vote.

I own 4 Jaguars, and one of the type clubs I’m in held a WAKE.

Consider the irony of city people spending tens of thousands of dollars to go out into the woods and talk with squirrels, when they’ve never spoken to their neighbors. Think of how much money they could save, yet still get the same result.

When I was a kid I had two Corgi cars(fancy ass british matchboxes ) that I thought were were sexiest, coolest cars on the face of the earth: the Lamborghini Miura and the Jaguar E type. Having seen both in my life I still thing the E type is king. One of my dad’s friends as a bachelor had a dark blue E type that I got a ride in. It is interesting that in the mid 1960’s a working man could swing a Jaguar E type (used, but still) on a blue collar salary.

Tata of India did Jaguar no favors they should have just let it die a natural death And we could mourn it properly Like SAAB, Studebaker and similar makes that have passed beyond.

        1. Gonna agree with you on the E-type. My three favorite Britmobiles shared a similar look, with the long, sloping and uncluttered hood: MGB (my first car), the E-Type, and the 1995 – 2005 XK8 (because it so clearly shows the E heritage).

Over the years, I’ve had two MGBs, a Land Rover (aka “Rand Lover,” IYKYK) and half a dozen Jags. Having this many Britmobiles proves that I’m a slow learner. I like the X Type (I have two of the 1605 station wagons that they made for North American sales), this is my go-with when I need a “Business Sport” car, but I’m having a blast with my “new,” silver 1996 XK8 convertible (the plate reads “HI YO” — IYKYK).

A friend of mine has both and E-Type convertible and an XK8 convertible. He put an electronic horn on the E, that plays the music bed for “Dead Man’s Curve” — he believes that nearly everyone in the English-speaking world mentally finishes the phrase “Exx-Kay-Eee” by adding “pulled up on the right.”

      2. I was at a Kalifornistan gas station today. Regular is $6.10 a gallon.

They have big bright yellow tags on the gas hoses instructing people to pull them out of the tank before driving away. At this rate, we might have to go back to ‘full-service’ gas stations, with attendants specially trained in the Super Seekrit Dark Art of putting gasoline into vehicles.

Maybe they have tried talking to the neighbors and concluded that talking to squirrels instead is worth spending a lot of money. 😁

    2. Flying over would do it. Especially if you had just washed your car. Btw, in Greek, Pegasoi, in Latin, Pegasi. But, there was only one.

  2. Chesterton counterpoint, by Socrates:

The story goes that Thamus said much to Theuth, both for and against each art, which it would take too long to repeat. But when they came to writing,

Theuth said: “O King, here is something that, once learned, will make the Egyptians wiser and will improve their memory; I have discovered a potion for memory and for wisdom.”

Thamus, however, replied: “O most expert Theuth, one man can give birth to the elements of an art, but only another can judge how they can benefit or harm those who will use them. And now, since you are the father of writing, your affection for it has made you describe its effects as the opposite of what they really are. In fact, it will introduce forgetfulness into the soul of those who learn it: they will not practice using their memory because they will put their trust in writing, which is external and depends on signs that belong to others, instead of trying to remember from the inside, completely on their own. You have not discovered a potion for remembering, but for reminding; you provide your students with the appearance of wisdom, not with its reality. Your invention will enable them to hear many things without being properly taught, and they will imagine that they have come to know much while for the most part they will know nothing. And they will be difficult to get along with, since they will merely appear to be wise instead of really being so.

  3. Why did ‘Activists!’ burn Teslas last year?

Because Elon Musk committed such diabolical outrages as:

    * Buying a publicly traded company with his own money
    * Greatly reducing censorship on that platform
    * Exposing foreign and bot (and foreign bot) accounts
    * Saving taxpayers $Billions by cutting government fraud

Which of those actions were they ‘protesting’, exactly?

    1. The main thing was that he took an unpaid job working for the Bad Orange Man. They didn’t like the rest, and notably the DOGE savings were projected at that point, but the simple fact he refused to stay in Texas playing with his rockets and electric cars and twiX infuriated them – how dare he help the Bad Orangeness? What gives him the right to accept a job working for the democratically majority elected government that is a threat to muh democracy??

      1. This may be a bit extra snarky as I spent the entire day yesterday, over ten hours, forced to listed to a TV playing continuous CNN (Which apparently still exists outside airports. Who knew?)

        All. Day. Long.

OMG. The one hundred and twelve people who still watch it are getting firehosed high concentration TDS nonstop. It was incredible. And painful. My head still hurts.

So, apologies for any extra snark today.

    2. IMHO, the first is the least offensive to the perpetually offended. #s 3 and 4 did in their rice bowls, and #2 gave power to us Deplorables. In rough order, I’d guess

      #4, 3, 2 and 1.

I wouldn’t want to guesstimate the outrage-o-meter for each of those, though. [Interesting, my spell checker thinks “guesstimate” is a legitimate word.]

You’re going to get all upset about renaming bodies of water? Then tell me about Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, re(re?)named MudPieSwamp, or whatever it’s (ab?)’original’ name was, by the city clowncil because John C. Calhoun was a slave owner.

    1. Henh. If they think gas is expensive in America, they need to check out what it costs in those ‘democratic socialist’ countries they’re so fond of. Here’s a hint: €2.00 per liter translates to $8.63 per gallon at the current exchange rate.

  5. Note that the Babylon 5 discs in that meme are completely inappropriate! JMS recently put the *entire* series up on YouTube for free when the company with distribution rights let them lapse. No physical media had been sold in a long time, which meant that for many people there was simply no way to watch the series. Making it available for free on YouTube was his way to fix that.
