I’m so sorry

I’ll do the promo post AND a regular post tomorrow. I found myself unavoidably detained away from home for most of the day. Nothing bad, just one small thing after another. If it makes you feel better, Miss Muse is most seriously displeased with me. She was waiting at the door from the garage with the look of “Hooman? How long have you been out? And did I sign permission for this?” And is now punishing me by not being on my lap.

To you and to her: I’m sorry. I’ll try to give warning next time.

  2. All good. It’s been a day. Might be time for a nap yet. Tomorrow the sun shall rise and so shall we. Till that day, rest is advised. The good stuff. Comfy bed. Pillows. Blankets. Kittehs and other half. By these reagents may the ritual of proper rest be enacted. Go forth and enchant.

  3. Hey, don’t feel you have to wear yourself out on our account! This counts as a post!

    Seriously, if you feel you must, then stuff it in a buffer, so you can give yourself some rest instead of feeling like you must run from pillar to post until you’re worn down to a nub.

    We’ll be here. Making merry, making mischief, making puns…

      1. I know the feeling.

        I’m in the dog house x6. To be fair I am always in Buddy’s dog house, he will not have anything to do with me (he’s the recent semi-feral we have had for 6 years now; loves dad and son).

        But everyone else? Including the dog? Three nights ago had to put on clean sheets and kick everyone out of our bedroom. Our bedroom door is NEVER closed and latched. Turns out the door actually latches if you make sure there is a click. Who knew?

        Cats never gave up. Dog laid outside the door and whined.

        7 AM PST. We leave for the hospital at about 8:30 AM. I check in by 9 AM.

        Will not have laptop to respond. Phone replies does weird WP things. But I will be able to read blogs on phone, eventually.

        I gave mom Sarah’s @ hotmail if the worst happens. Otherwise, I’ll be checking in later.

        Prayers are still up for @Rcpete and the wildfire situation outside of K-Falls, and all the wildfire impacted areas. News is not good via Reel and Watch Duty.

            All that prep – mental and physical – and you ‘get’ to do it again. And, so do the Fur Kids, alas.

            Oh, well – maybe not-a-Monday will be better for your surgical team.

            1. It was scheduled last Friday, at 5:15 AM arrival, rescheduled due to more “urgent” case.

              Rescheduled for today, arrival 9 AM. Okay. Better timing.

              Now? Timing? Not so much. Yes, pets and I have to go through this all over again. Which, we did get a chuckle out of the surgeon because we took this so well. Hubby said, “So, are you going to explain this delay to the cats and the dog? Why they are still kicked out of the bedroom?”

              Regarding timing. Now I would prefer the 5:15 AM. At least I’d be messing with someone else’s schedule. (Being understanding does not mean reasonable.)

              At this point, the surgery is medically considered “elective”. But not really. I don’t have any choice. Problem is severe. It went severe quickly. But I’m not dropping dead tomorrow from it. Not a Hail Mary procedure, yet. Others are worse off. Does not make waiting easier (or fair … I know. Life is not fair.)

              Surgeon did say “this week”, even if they have to check me in Friday night, for a weekend procedure. Been haunting the myChart app for when it will show up. They are suppose to call me tomorrow at the latest. But I saw the reschedule above before they called. I suspect that will occur again.

              What I do not like is I am showing symptoms from either quitting or not being on some of my medications because of the scheduled surgery, and still not on them with the delay (Eliquis, blood thinner, and Telmastartin, blood pressure, among others). Sudden multi-lens vision, or trembling of an arm, is not fun.

              I know. TMI. But here I can vent/whine, or whatever. Thank you.

              1. Those are horrible. Even when the symptoms are minor and there’s a work around. I shudder to think about more major symptoms.

                  This is on top of my long term symptoms of extreme fatigue. The perceived standard “symptom” of hard to breathe if climbing stairs, walking any distance, exercising, etc., I do not “seem” to have.

                  Seem, in quotes, because I’ve spent my life, whether working in the woods, the last 50 years backpacking and hiking, always with people with a lot longer legs than I have, making sure I’m going my pace, not running to keep up. Which by (my) definition is not gasping for breath. So, I’ve probably been adjusting automatically, or not, who knows. OTOH I avoid exercising these days if only because it causes my heart rate to skyrocket really fast (gee I wonder why?)

                  Note, running to keep up, I could do. I just couldn’t do that all day. Or I could go all day without stopping.

              2. This is what you get when government bureaucrats not only practice medicine, they enforce artificial scarcities of doctors, nurses, hospitals, major medical equipment… I could go on, but you get the idea.

                And even with the government f*king it all up, we’ve still got the world’s best health care. Because every other government is even worse.

                1. The FB private “Zipper Clubs” or equivalent for any heart surgery be it SVAR (OHS) or TVAR, mechanical or animal valve replacements, have members from all over the world. Without exception anyone in my condition would be waiting not months/weeks, but years; if not a year, then close to a year.

                  PeaceHealth Heart Clinic has surgeons that specialize in each primary type. Not sure how many TVAR (at least one, who did my angiogram), but there are three SVAR surgeons. When originally scheduling we were told “3 months out”. This week was actually 2 months out. I suspect it is a combination of surgeon schedules, equipment scheduling, and room availability. Although I doubt, short of a catastrophic event the Oregon Heart Clinic loans out it’s ICU and regular rooms to the rest of the hospital.

                  Currently the main hospital suffers under a lack of ICU and room beds. Often leaving patience in a special ward in the Emergency section under observation. We have not experienced this, but the SIL has with her son, brother, and mother.

                  Costs? We still have not seen a bill for hubby’s cancer surgery, from the hospital (the surgeon and anesthesiologist sent bills). Between Oregon and the Federal laws on no surprise billing or bill balancing, do not *expect any surprises. Or all the medicare and medicare advantage warnings about how hospitals and clinics get around limitations and how to prevent this? Is addressed directly by the hospital upfront.

                  (*) Could still happen. Just because I do not expect it, does not mean it won’t happen.

                  1. Waiting 3 months for a life-saving operation demonstrates that the demand is there for more surgeons, more operating rooms, more ICU space…all of which are nixed by the bureaucrats. If enough people die waiting for their turns, supply and demand balance perfectly. 😡

          3. The Reader is sorry to hear of the delay. Best wishes for when it finally happens.

            In related news, the Reader is 12 weeks from surgery today, and in the last week he has reclaimed a significant amount of energy. He didn’t change anything, but finally started seeing results from the routine. He and better half celebrated with root beer floats.

            1. The delay was caused by someone getting a mitral valve replacement. Problems started with prep not going well. Then the OR supplies/equipment started having problems. Not a good start to the day.

              Glad you are feeling better. Encouraging.

    1. Counted as cats do ” one…two…three…infinity”. Occasionally you’ll meet a cat that can count as far as four for special cases. Spike (of blessed memory) could count people reliably to 4. His counting was “1, 2, 3, 4… HIDE!!!” as he could count the family members. He’d also report/complain if someone was missing when he did the bedtime headcount before taking his post at my elder daughters door, sleepovers by the girls were NOT appreciated.

  9. Sarah, the Reader states emphatically that you have no reason to be sorry! Life is what happens while you are making other plans. The bad news I have for you is as you get older life ‘happens’ a lot more often.

    Once it settles down, the Reader will share his latest house hunting follies.

  10. Dear Hostess thank you for telling us you are OK. And please do not worry about the Huns, we’ll take care of ourselves. As for Muse, when she forgives you for going AWOL without proper paperwork, take care of her, as she likely senses the stress in the air from what seems to her to be the inexplicable disappearance of one of her clan/clowder members. As you well know cats are far more emotionally attuned than the scientific community gives them credit for.
