Emerson’s advice was horrible for environmentalists and leave no trace hikers.
Sitting quietly together in front of a fire. Ah! The good old days!
About surviving childhood. It did take several trips to the emergency room and a whole lot of stitches.
Fish and volcano. Which is why we should vote for Scott Brown, not Sununu. (New Hampshire election joke.)
Cat and goose? I see the elves of Lothlorien taking their swan boats down the river.
About that hitchhiker. Unrealistic. You usually only see them at night, when you’re tired of a day of shit, driving home from work when the headlights sweep over them for a brief second or two.
I see nothing wrong with the response to invading America. After all, it works great for North Sentinel Island.
I used the yoga instructor one as part of a devotion last week. We’re out with the volunteer group and members are expected to take turns doing the devotion.
It gets worse – that’s the emergency autopilot from the ’80’s Airplane! spoof movie, thus purportedly a civil air transport mechanism. Though it may have gotten started in one of the services . . .
Plenty of airline pilots are still reservists, so no reason an Air Force clanker airplane driver could not be as well. Don’t know who is going to do the emergency in-flight reinflation procedure in that jet, though…
I had a chance to purchase an M1A1 Thompson SMG for $1,300 back in 1983. For whatever reason (most likely finances at the time) I passed on the opportunity. Arguab
ly the second worst decision I ever made financially. In 1986, the so-called FOPA was passed and the value of the thing decapled(? increased ten fold) overnight.
The Hughes Amendment was added as a poison pill, ignoring it was the right thing to do. It should have struck down by the courts. Taxing a constitutionally protected item may be valid, but a backdoor ban by refusing to accept the tax is not.
I think I have finally figured out Leftroids. They see that successful people have expensive things, so they believe expensive things will make them successful too.
That’s part of it. Some just want the expensive things.
(I have literally seen a Socialist defending not starting a co-op because the capitalists will drive down the price and so they can’t pay high wages. It did not occur to him that if Socialism raises prices to raise wages, it’s not raising wages.)
Regarding, it might be rabies—well, it could be mild nerve agent poisoning or perhaps dehydration or even the flu. Perhaps inject some atropine, drink one quart of water slowly over a period of thirty minutes, and go to the nearest emergency room.
This week I actually had to get a certified copy of her husband’s death certificate for a 100 year old widow to prove her married name since she had her birth certificate but not her marriage license. In Texas…
Yes, but surely you understand that’s different from people 137 years old voting in Colorado Springs which is the sort of nonsense the meme is joking about.
Getting all the utilities, etc., to mom’s name after dad died. She set them up originally when they moved to the area, 1960. Didn’t matter, they were all in dad’s name. Taking dad’s name off the banking accounts were easy in comparison. Just take in the death certificate. Utilities? Do not have a front office as of 2009. Had to call. “Put him on the phone to authorize.” Was on the script of more than one utility. Or why I’m authorized on all of her accounts now. If (she’s 92 this November) it happens, it (should) will be easier. That and it is also electronic now. Or why I made sure she has online accounts.
Mom won’t have a problem with voting. She has a US passport.
Regarding a fine on a driver’s license. Why bother? What are they going to do? Suspend his license? Put him in jail?
Regarding a fine on a driver’s license. Why bother? What are they going to do? Suspend his license? Put him in jail?
Depending on the jurisdiction? They can issue the fine, tack on penalties and interest , and eventually, unless the estate writes a check, seize assets such as the car or the house and sell it at auction. It has happened; a case search will show it.
In Oregon, the fine is against the driver AND the car. If you loan someone your car, they get a fine, and they don’t pay it, better believe you better make sure the fine is cleared. Depending on what type of fine, the penalty point goes against the driver’s license. The odds of the fine being cleared just because the driver has died since getting the fine, is zip to none. Fine is still owed. Might clear interest if it can be proven survivor had no clue a fine was owed. But the odds of the fine being cleared is zip to none. To clear the fine you’d have to show up on court date and prove the individual was dead when the fine was issued (i.e. issuing officer mistake).
Now if it was the type of fine the one who got it is required to show up in court (DUI, is one) then I can see a jaded judge not taking a death certificate. OTOH surprised ashes worked, or even a headstone … After all neither actually prove the individual is actually dead. Latter can be faked. Former doesn’t actually have to be the individuals ashes.
Point is. Pay the fine.
Now, I’ve reported this before. We got a letter stating Washington state noticed that the ’58 Plymouth parked alongside our fence in ’85 wasn’t licensed in Washington. Correct. Been there since we moved to Washington and could afford to replace and park it. Hubby wanted to “restore it”. Didn’t run. Did when parked. Breaks were long gone. Iffy when parked. Floor boards iffy. Had holes after sitting. No way, if we were so inclined, it was going down to the DMV to go through the state process. Our response was what the state said they were going to do if we “did not comply”. I called and asked when they were going to come pick it up. They never did. It was, eventually, sold to someone who wanted parts for a car they were restoring.
That’s literally the argument behind things like the Community Reinventment Act. The Middle Class own homes, so if we make it easier to own a home more people will be Middle Class.
The house in Nebraska had shag carpet in two rooms, plus on one of the staircases. I sailed down those stairs several times because of the smooth soles on my dress shoes (black patent or white patent. 1970s). We had a rug rake, yes. One winter, the shag by the back door froze in the condensate from said door, effectively locking the door by blocking the track (sliding door).
Source FB comment post to shenanigans reported happenings at Newberry Crater. Energy company drilling and pumping water into the sleeping crater. Reported increased quakes from monitoring equipment (which can’t tell if it is the volcano responding to the drilling, or not).
Newberry Crater is the largest volcanic crater in Oregon (if not America continents that isn’t a super volcano). It is not extinct (like Crater Lake). Not much chance of a lahar if erupts because not a mountain in its landscape. Plenty of other damage possible. Hwy 97 runs N/S next to it. Sunriver, La Pine, Bend, and Redmond, are nearby.
I recently saw the ultimate trap for everyone here. There’s an ancient magical library. At the end of an aisle between two bookshelves is an item that you need. The bookshelves slowly come together as you start to run down the aisle between them, and you have just enough time to reach the end without getting squished. But the bookshelves have been enchanted with an illusion that makes the books on them appear to be unread sequels to your favorite books…

I’ve noted in the past the war on attractive women in video games. I’ve also noted the endless cycle that sees an attractive female protagonist in a popular video game labeled as “goonerbait slop” when her game is released, and then the very same labelers claim she has always been an “example of a strong, empowering female” when the next target of their “goonerbait slop” attacks emerges. The character Eve, from Stellar Blade, was the most recent example of the attack, with critics going after her even though she’s modeled after a real woman.
Stellar Blade’s publisher, Korean company Shift-Up, has apparently decided to delay getting their game transitioned to the “strong, empowering female” stage. On Friday (at the Summer Games Expo convention), they announced a sequel called Stellar Blade Blood Rain. And the attacks on the female protagonist are already rolling in.
And just to further illustrate how nuts the attackers are, they’re also going after the just announced next game in the Ace Combat game. One of the pilots in the game is a cute young woman. She’s wearing a normal flight suit, so the things making her “cute” are just her face and short pink hair. But this is enough to enrage certain people.

If you thought the UK was around peak stupidity – –

And now they have to dig themselves out from under another round of “White privilege”
Egg size doesn’t seem to be mentioned – but, if a smaller hen produces the same sized egg, isn’t that an indicator of “white superiority”?
