When did she grow to be a beauty? When did he grow to be so tall?
Wasn’t it yesterday when they were small?

I don’t remember growing older. When did they?

In the US, most localities allow ministers/priests to sign the paperwork to make a church wedding a legal marriage.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I think in Virginia, where we live now, the authority to sign the paperwork is basically a matter of paying a fee to the Commonwealth government. Seems like I had to look that up when my eldest was marrying and they considered having my Dad (a Lutheran lay minister in Ohio) officiate.

In California, anyone can be licensed. A blogger discussed his experience with such a license when two friends asked him to marry them.
He observed that the state did not accept any liability for harms to or by him. He wondered if shotgun marriages were still a thing.

I’m surprised we still do. I thought that would be gone by necessity at this point.

And on growing older, clearly it happens interstitially, in the spaces between the parts that get put into memory, as I only ever recall realizing it happened, never it actually happening.
Grower older and memory is like oil and water, vampires and sunlight, or politicians and truth.

Probably more effective to go for the cluster munition effect, so a gazillion baby shoes in a dispenser unit, which Sarah could be riding in the Slim Pickens manner.
Hello, AI imager?
Though note Major Kong only rode the bomb because the wiring was effed by a SAM and for some reason he was the one to go rewire it. Given her relationship with things with circuits I am not sure Sarah would be the one to go address an electrical issue. I do believe she currently has a cat, however, that would effectively go rewire things, but I doubt any cat would find itself on a dropping bomb – more likely it would just teleport to the bomb bay wall and claw itself to the surface there.

The weird thing about that movie is where the soundtrack music vanishes right across that big Kirk v Kruge fight, like they just spent the last of the money to pay the musicians on a big bar crawl the night before they recorded that scene.

So who ARE they? One of your kids and their new spouse? Or is this that wedding you were going to in Portugal?
Don’t leave us in suspense! Do they have electricity in Portugal? OK at least in the streetcars in Lisbon and Oporto. But the usual perception of Portugal and Spain by outsiders is that people there live now as they did centuries ago. Generally the Catholic countries of the world are perceived that way by non-Catholics.
I should be kinder to you since from your writings you’re going through very hard times. You may even be living out of your car like John Kerry once did. He married a super-rich widow but you don’t have that opportunity.

I think you mean that the general American perception of a foreign country is frozen at the point we last had a major migration from it.
Which is why you day “Dutch” and people still think of girls in winged starched caps and wooden sabots, for example, or “Spain” and people think everyone dresses like flamenco dancers and mariachi bands.

for the love of BOB. They have landromats, even. (Just came back from one, as mom lacks a dryer and it’s very wet out.) And they’re younger son and lovely bride. Our family gets married in a tiny chapel in Portugal. It’s what we do.
His lovely bride is the daughter of another Baen Author. They’ve been sparking for 12 years.

Sigh. Yes.
Not like you haven’t mentioned they got legally married in the states, and all the problems getting the religious Portugal wedding that your 90+ parents could attend, a time or two, and more. I’d roll my eyes but the cats are particularly active tonight and they’d make off with them.
