THE POST OF THE DAY IS BELOW!

Welcome to day four of blog funding days. Yeah, I probably am not going to make anywhere near the total, because the first week are when most of the donations are, and even between GSG and Substack subscriptions, it doesn’t come close. BUT …. But it is what it is. And I still have to ASK, which is hard, but is the point. I mean, I put in about 30 hours a week on this blog, and if I don’t get funding, it makes it very hard to also write fiction.
So, fully aware of how difficult it was to pay on the blog pledges from last year (still will do it) this year is different.
You can choose from Give Send Go, in which case you are donating to make it possible for me to keep this blog up and not lose my mind or get incredibly ill as …. as has been the case these last ten years. Give Send Go forbids incentive donations. So, that’s that.
If you want to donate to keep Sarah marginally healthier and saner while writing blog and books, please go here: Link Here.
If you wish to more directly support my fiction writing, other than by buying books (again, this helps me do things like pay my assistant, and maybe finally pay someone to revamp my blog) and this other means is part of the funding: Subscribe to my substack, where I’m serializing the novels Witch’s Daughter and Winter Prince. (Update on Witch’s Daughter up, and Winter Prince will be up before midnight. This week is fun with doctors, so things are slightly mistimed.) Anyway, to subscribe to Chapter House, the link is: Here.
And finally, a few of you informed me you are Patreon Donors. I have no idea what to do with Patreon, since it has some issues copyright and other ways. BUT I will try to do a post once a week. My warning that it will be mostly about cats is, well… a warning. It can be tons of other things, such as art or an outtake on a past or future novel. And probably will be. Unless I’m mourning a very beloved kitten and share that. (Sorry.) Anyway, to donate on Patreon, please: Go here.
If you absolutely must send me a snailmail check, a drawing of a squirrel, or a picture of your cat, this is the address to send it to:

This brings day four of blog funding begging to a close. Real post is below this one.
Have fun.

What’s that on top of her suitcase?
And is that a mini-dragon beside her or is she carrying the mini-dragon?

I don’t give the web my banking access, but somewhere I think you put up an address mail a check?

Some Patreon providers just use it as a place to link websites, YouTube videos, etc. Sometimes they release items there a day or two before they do to the public.

Oh. I might be able to do some of that. At least shorts.

About as scary as a Tribble with a crew cut. Sheesh.

Hmm. About 10% is not a bad conversion rate in four days for an annual campaign. You do need to keep it in front of people for the entire year, though. Something shorter, however, pinned at the top of the blog. Something like:
Hopefully, WPDE doesn’t mangle the blockquote there… Oh, speaking of WPDE, I am sometimes known as “WritingObserver” to my friends. Enemies I have a different alias for…

Oh. Interesting. I’m no longer Number One.

Just be glad that you weren’t Number Two as he always got beaten by Number Six (The Prisoner).

“I am Number Two.”
“Who is Number One?”
“You are, Number Six.”
That comma was dang important.

Yeah, but I don’t want to do that. I want to do 15 days and done.

I find that perplexing.
You are an Author. You write for profit. Money is the most sincere applause. This is good.
You entertain us professionally. You have every right to expect compensation for your work. It is fairly earned. Even theology supports that view.
Monetize this space. It is your just due, your fair earnings.
Your charity is a blessing. But do allow those of us with means to bless you in return.
Unashamedly, unhesitantly, collect your regularized paycheck. You earn every penny.
Leave up a prominent link year round where folks can hit the tip jar, or subscribe, as means allow. They wont damage themselves by paying, nor will you by accepting.
Let not your heart be troubled.

I might. If it falls very short, I might. And I know all this rationally.

Oh, I could have sworn that you wrote it was going to go through the year. OTOH, I am drawing Social Security, so…
I was just thinking a pinned top post that shouldn’t need maintenance (except for WPDE shenanigans).

I probably should, if it falls really short. Um…. I might ask the people here their opinion.

My strong recommendation is to have a year-round link. Have links/pages for your books, Paetron, etc. New folks should be able to find it. Recurring characters can hit the jar when and as they are able. Hoe can we buy stuff if you hide it? The “fundraisers” are the cash register for the various non-book stuff.
You write as if American/Liberty type, but you are sometimes handling money as if it was something dishonest or even shameful.
Non Sequitur.
Honest earnings are just that – earned. No one with any sense is going to criticize a professional author for trying to get paid for writing. You said 30 hour on this forum? That is -huge-.
I have certainly told my employer I expect to be paid. I love my work. I can do lots of things I love. If they want me to stick around, I expect a good paycheck for my dedicated and productive work. Else I go elsewhere where I can support my ammo habit and Odd relatives. I am coming up on 20 years there, so looks like we are in agreement. (They make money. They ain’t a charity, either, although they are very charitable.)
It’s your life. You are free, and by choice, not happenstance like most. Don’t deny yourself the blessings of Liberty, including getting paid for work.
You earn your pay.

I see nothing wrong with having the “pay links” open all of the time with something on the “side panels” about them.
I’d think you should “force” yourself to talk about the fund-raising links every three or four months.

I did the Substack at the highest level, not because I wanted my name in print, but because I wanted you to get a higher percentage. After reading this post I’m a bit confused, which is the best way to support your writing effort, both in the blog and fiction?

Either. Any of the listed. The substack is fine! I’m taking both into account. (Not the checks, because I haven’t got any yet.)
Thank you so much. I do appreciate it.
