Liberty Con Bound

Well, it’s that time of year again, and tomorrow the Hoyt Clan is Liberty con bound, leaving a friend in charge of Not-our-cats (Although right now only one not our cat comes by) and sundries. (Please don’t forget the sundries!)

I expect to be having dinner at the Acropolis tomorrow around this time (or a little earlier) with Number 1 son.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. The bad news is that I haven’t — grrrrr — finished Darkship Renegades. The good news is that it’s not because it’s stalled, but because I need to tweak a bit, because of a whole new subplot which makes it much more fun. (Look guys, Thena. Kidnapping. Burners. Explosions. Nough Said? Oh, yeah, and for the rest of you, impossible love, and a situation that will result in at least one tragedy… We just need to make sure the less likeable person dies.) I will read from it if I have a reading (haven’t seen schedule yet!) or you can accost me and make me read at some point, if you’re desperate. Meanwhile, I might be escaping to the hotel (we didn’t get rooms in the main one! :( ) now and then, to make sure the iron doesn’t get cold. I want it to go to betas on Tuesday at the latest.

Meanwhile, you know the drill, posting will be spoty till Tuesday, that is two days after the con, when sleep has happened. Be good.

  2. On it. I just had practice with dealing with crazy black male cat. There’s a roughly 7 1/2 foot bookcase in non-fiction that’s placed across a corner, leaving a triangular chasm that the store cats apparently find a great temptation. Came in this morning and Booker (I didn’t name them) was missing, just the girl Pages (ditto) was there, and eventually I heard a plaintive miaoux coming from behind that bookcase. I still haven’t replaced the ton or so of books I had to unshelve to tilt the bookcase and get him out.

  3. FYI: Five myths about Jane Austen [ http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/five-myths-about-jane-austen/2011/07/08/gIQAZALCEI_story.html ] from Sunday’s Washington Post may be of interest. If it is, then the online appearance of its author (“[Carol J.] Adams will be online on Tuesday, July 19 at 11 a.m. ET to chat. Submit your questions or comments now.”) may also be of interest. Follow link to article for details & links. The Post’s “5 Myths” column appears every Sunday and is occasionally mostly accurate.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled Hoyt post.
