First a note: I like to keep my commitments, and I committed to give you guys a chapter of a novel and a bit of fanfic every week. Lately it’s been falling through the cracks, and I don’t like it. Yeah, I’ve been sick, and the younger boy had what we call “the plague” which seemed to be somewhere between pneumonia and bronchitis.
The good news is that we’re getting better. The bad news is that, having been sick for a while, I’m “beat” and have a ton of things to catch up on.
I hate not keeping my commitments, even if they only slip by a day or a couple of days… BUT–
There’s a con in town, and we had two panels (one each) and tomorrow I have three plus a reading and a signing. And I think there’s a couple on Sunday. Witchfinder and (hopefully) fanfic will happen sometime in the middle of that. Check back or subscribe to the feed. It will come. But right now, I’m beat and I’m going to bed.
Squid, pick up your mollusks and jet… er, that is, take care of yourself, okay? Don’t sweat the other stuff. Incidentally, while it isn’t on the schedule, I certainly enjoy notes from panels and other hijinks at conventions and conferences. Often easy to put together, too :-)

Call it a belated Winter Vacation and don’t guilt. *grin* I hope you are feeling well enough at the con to enjoy it! And that you don’t come down with a case of ConCrud to replace the recent plague. :(

Posting streaks are overrated. :) Family before fiction.

Sarah, you know how you feel so free, to write without contracts? That goes for blogs, too. Don’t make bloging harder by tying yourself to a shedule, an self-made-contract. We’ve seen several writers burn out on MGC, with just one a week blogs.
As to Witchfinders, it’s the usual custom to end samples in the most infuriating spot. So sometimes give us half a chapter, and save the rest for the next week. Yes, we realize this is an experiment in financing the writer’s life. But sometimes experiments fail. If you don’t feel like this is working, think about how to adjust it so it might be better. You may find that writing the very rough draft first, then releasing it chapter by chapter with a bit of edit and polish, is psychologically less stressful.
As for the rest of the blog, if the other WIP has an especially funny bit, especially completely without context, toss it in. And red herrings. Fool us. Lead us astray. We love it. Especially if it means you can do a quick copy and paste for here and then get back to whatever _you_ want to do. Toss us a link to the Museum you’re going to visit. Toss us cat pictures.
You might even consider, you know, something weird, like, taking the whole weekend off. Regularly. Like normal people. Don’t let the Blog turn into your least favorite chore.

I like the weekend off thing, at least till I recover. Witchfinder — to an extent I’m enjoying it. It’s just there are places you can’t force yourself to go. The next two chapters are action-packed. I can balk them and defang them. Or I can postpone them. One thing I can’t write when tired is action. Don’t ask me why. I just can’t.
