Not to Leave You In Suspense

The preliminary look-see saw nothing. It’s all gone tot he pathologist now and will be a couple of days.

Best guess by specialist at this point is a recurring infection. But he wants me back on the regular to keep an eye on.

So, the door creaked open, then closed again, and the path is what it always was. Thank you to everyone who prayed or even wished me well.

I will write tomorrow. I’m (unaccountably?) wiped out today.

  1. Let’s see,

Stress from anticipation of doing the test things

Stress from going into a medical situation

Stress from peopleing in public spaces

Stress from doing the test things

Some relief of not immediate bad news but still some stress from not knowing…

Gee, can’t imagine why you would feel wiped out

    1. Just sitting in the waiting area (driver for someone else) is draining. Too much going on, but none of it relates to you, and other stressed people coming in and out is wearing.

        1. (a sign that I had been going to the Clinic too often). Walked in the front door. The receptionist says “I saw you coming across the parking lot & have you checked in. Go on back to Radiation.” Just getting my coat off there, and the technician poked her head in the waiting room “Come on back Don, we’re ready for you”. I walked back out the front door before my scheduled appointment time.

          1. Yep. Got that when my Ortho surgeon got called out for an emergency and had to cancel. The lady who had just called my wife recognized me. Seems having had 3 knee procedures since 2021 makes an impression. (Appointment was to set up #4. Sigh.)

          1. Agree. Mine comes from the military, “hurry up and wait”.

Whenever prepping for a Field Exercise (FTX), or any other major get-up-and-go, I always bring a book.

          1. Haven’t had to deal with such myself, lately.

Watched my BIL, OTOH, who is still dealing with that fallout. No way is he ever letting anyone touch that temporary knee replacement. Ever.

      1. I have lamented the lack of an Edit feature in WP for so many years…

But now you have me wondering what would happen if you threw a penny down a washing well. :-)

          1. Ever played a puzzle game called Blue Prince? It came out in the past couple of years, and it’s really good. You get to the end of the game, solving the puzzle first presented to you, and you find out that although you can quit there, there are still a lot of mysteries lying around. And if you piece them all together, and do certain specific actions that are hinted at by the solution to those puzzles, a whole new big puzzle opens up, made of 45 smaller puzzles. Solving each of those smaller puzzles gives you a single word. Figure out the correct order to put those words together, and understand the cryptic message they form (which in turn requires understanding the answers to other puzzles you solved earlier — hope you took good notes!) and you will eventually end up solving the game’s final puzzle. (Which, once you’ve solved it, takes pains to tell you that yes, that was the final puzzle and you have truly completed the game).

But the reason I mention it is because one of the many, many rooms you will visit in your puzzle-solving journey is the Laundry Room. Where you can use the laundry machine to exchange the game’s two resources, coins and jewels, for each other: you can convert all your coins to jewels, or all your jewels to coins, at a 1:1 exchange rate either way. (Jewels are usually in far shorter supply than coins, especially later in the game, but both can be useful depending on which puzzles you’re confronting at that very moment).

Yes, the money-laundering pun is fully intended by the game.

  2. “And the path is what it always was…”

For some of us, this sounds very like “the best of all possible worlds” — “interesting” is not even nearly always a plus.

And may the blessings continue thus! (Perhaps for “God made this world the way it is, if you have any questions or comments take them up with Himself!” values of “blessings” — but still.)

  3. “Recurring infection” is one of those very annoying things. It means there is a reservoir somewhere – but is it in your body, someone else’s body, or just your environment? (Plus always the possibility that, if in your body, the antibiotic treatment is just making the damn things stronger.)

Continuing on as I was before. (NO, WORDPRESS, THIS IS AN ENTIRELY ORIGINAL COMMENT. I AM NOT PLAIGURIZING MYSELF! Sigh… local spell checker, I DID spell that correctly. One of THOSE days.)

    1. Sarah, have you checked with your dentist? Because dental is a very common reservoir, and a toothache isn’t necessary.

        1. sigh. I remember a time when trying to debug a problem and a manager thought it was good that we had shown it wasn’t one thing. When we had no clue what else it could be.

    2. Sounds like what my wife had, lo, many years ago.

She had recurring flareups of (something). Go the the Doc/ER, they couldn’t find anything & sent her home. Lather, rinse, repeat.

FINALLY some bright bulb decided to check closer, turns out she had a gall bladder (infection?). Remove the gall bladder, she’s been well (enough) since then.

    1. Yep. Recurring anything is a pain, and some infections hang in there until they can recruit Murphy for something really interesting. Got that T-shirt a few decades ago.

      Staying on prayer watch.

  4. It’s amazing how a single medical appointment can wipe out one’s day.

Good luck and I hope you continue to improve.

My usual advice, nap and drink lots of (non-alcoholic) liquid.

Sounds so good that I may take my own advice.

  8. Dear Sarah, best wishes on your search for the source of your illnesses.

In honor of your personal Identification Class, your name was entered on the Denver Temple Prayer Roll, so many Latter-day Saints in your favorite places in Colorado are praying for you.

(For the newer followers, it’s an in-joke. However, the main topic of this post — the incursion of Marxism in America — is even more relevant now than when it was written.)
