          1. Typical. The press is mostly just propaganda for CCP.

The original composition of the Central Military Committee from the 20th Party Congress in 2022 included seven members:

            • Chairman: Xi Jinping
            • Vice Chairmen: Zhang Youxia, He Weidong (later replaced)
            • Members: Li Shangfu, Liu Zhenli, Miao Hua, Zhang Shengmin

Multiple high-profile figures have been removed or placed under investigation for “serious violations of discipline and law” (code for corruption or disloyalty), including:

            • Li Shangfu (former Defense Minister, removed 2024)
            • Miao Hua
            • He Weidong (vice chairman, expelled/removed around October 2025). He committed suicide recently, which is weird since they usually don’t do that — they belong to the party and all that jazz.  He was supposed to be Xi’s ally.
            • Liu Zhenli (CMC member and Joint Staff Department chief)
            • Zhang Youxia (senior vice chairman, placed under investigation in January 2026). He was the only one who had ever been under fire having fought in the Vietnam disaster.

This has reduced the active CMC to effectively two members who remain in office:

            • Xi Jinping (Chairman, born 1953, still in full control as paramount leader).
            • Zhang Shengmin (Vice Chairman, also Secretary of the CMC Discipline Inspection Commission; a career political commissar from the Rocket Force background, promoted/retained amid the purges, including elevation in late 2025 after He Weidong’s fall).

            1. One of the commentators YT things I found noted that both of the remaining CMC guys being from the PLAAF, so none of the people at the top of the chain of command for the Army have any Army experience, nor similarly the PLAN any floatyboat experience.

The presumption is being PLAAF, those remaining two guys would have zero Rolodex contacts in the nearby coup-convenient PLA formations.

The additional take away I would have is ‘expect more trolls, more blackpills’.

US spending on the UN is probably a lot of fraud, and a slush fund to keep a bunch of awful regimes in power. As those regimes fail, some of them may understand that US politics is responsible, and in play.

I think there are not the financial institutions and courts to handle bankruptcy by the UN.

          1. Wow. Washington has entered the race to exit out of being affordable. Talked to someone yesterday who in recent years retired from Washington.

When we moved from Washington in ’85, property tax per 1000 were lower than Oregon. Electrical and water rates were lower. Sewer rates were higher (because at the time our area in Oregon did not have sewers to charge). Otherwise, the sales tax and annual value tax (on vehicles), was comparable to Oregon income tax (for us the former was less, because we didn’t have any money to spend, and our vehicles were used and old).

These days? Washington would be more expensive. Oregon property tax has increased, but lags due to percentage increase and property value caps. No clue why our *not-for-profit water/electric/sewer rates lag Washington public utility rates. Water source is different, but most of our electric comes from the same source. Even though our vehicle fee is still bi-annual, those rates have escalated.

Darn Washington anyway. Our lovely state governor looks both south (California) and north (Washington) for ideas on how to tax us more. The only two things they cannot do is impose a sales tax (call it a sales tax, because that is what the so-called new vehicle and dealership fees are), or increase the income tax rates, without a state-wide vote (although with mail-in-fraud-no-id voting, it is a matter of time before the initiatives are on the ballot).

(*) There is a subtle difference between non-profit, and not-for-profit. Granted, in Oregon, the difference is minor.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. 😒 Washington state’s constitution prohibits income taxes, and yet we are on the verge of one, aided and abetted by a State Supreme Court which rubber stamps whatever the left does while simultaneously overturning whatever the right does on the most flimsy pretexts. The only good news for me is that I’m not really from Washington. Grew up out of the country, went to college at UW, moved here when I got out of the Navy, so even though I’ve been here for a lot of years, I’m still not really a native. I’ll rootlessly go somewhere else and do the same things I’ve been doing here. Doesn’t mean I have to like it, though.

I know. I voted on the “no sales tax without putting it directly to the vote of the people” initiative.

Yet, TPTB have a percentage fee on all new vehicles sold (including RV’s), and a percentage fee on dealership, for any vehicle sold. Interesting how all the dealerships print that amount on the sales tax line. Fees are flat fees. Sales tax are percentages.

Also, with our vote-by-mail-fraud … PTB get anything they want passed, and fail anything they don’t want passed. Upcoming, the increase on licensing and gas tax fees. Legislative passed it. Governor signed. Initiative to overturn it, has the signatures needed. Of coarse it isn’t on the NEXT ballot. Nope. The one after that.

I am from Oregon. Born and raised. The paternal line has been here since 1845, the second wagon train to come out on the Oregon Trail. There is a family graveyard that is still maintained by the extended family (at least one branch), by volunteers. The graveyard is still used for internments. Most recent by uncle’s ashes this last summer.

American students too unstable to carry simply are a little bit questionable as students.

Secondary schools that restrict carry are maybe questionable as prep for tertiary.

(Okay, I would have a carve out for national security sites that happen to be located on a tertiary campus, but basically if a place does not have controlled access and security staff, it should be open carry.)

It covers universities that I do not have specific information or opinions about. Though the Oklahoma one looks like one of the Tulsa places, and the /privately owned/ Tulsa schools were expressing some very woke sentiments some years back.

I think the left has many idiots, I think they are stressed, I think they have made political mistakes, but it feels vastly unlikely that Americans would be feeling hemmed in this way.
