  1. May your Christmas be Merry, your boxing day not spent in return lines, and your fruit cake/candy/turkey/extra bit of ham that looked lonely alone on the plate not return to haunt you. Or appear on your scale.

  2. May himself bless ye, every one. Yes, you. And you too, Fred. And even our opposite numbers. Even the kittehs in their rambunctious selves, zoomies and hide-n-smack. May there be joy in the presence (note the C, not the TS).

After the wrapping paper, after the packages, after the tasty foods and the cleanup, after all the patience rewarded and the relative reindeer games are lost and won, after the travels and travails, the nightcaps and the seconds, may ye take a moment to appreciate it all, whole, fiddly bits and frustrations alike.

We live in a time of myths and legends. Of history in the making. Our humble selves are nonetheless characters in a grand play upon a stage large as the world. The ripples and echoes we strike are cast far, far beyond mortal expectation, through time and place.

What stories will they tell of the days like this? What lessons will be told to young and old in years beyond our lives?

May they be tales of courage and kindness. May they be of righteousness and humility, when we are ascendant. May they be of stolid dignity and honor throughout, for better or worse. May the memories we cast today inspire and teach, comfort and support, and a dire warning to those who would threaten our kith and kin.

Let there be joy upon this Earth. Let there be peace among Men. Let there be children’s laughter and purring kittehs, tail wagging goggies and whatever happy burbs do. May your work be purposeful, your relations strong, your lessons taken to heart, and your challenges mighty enough to strengthen you for the next step on the climb.

  3. Merry Christmas! We’re shifting from a wet one to a sort of white Christmas. Slush turning into snow. Don’t have to go anywhere for a few days, and I’m thrilled about that.

We’ll watch White Christmas tonight, maybe Holiday Inn next week. Sorry, I don’t have Die Hard on hand.. :)

  4. Merry Christmas to us all. And may we take the blessings we have and use the to help others, for that may be why received them.

Admiral Tanakabcleared her throat and addressed the room. “Dr. Callahan, Dr. Weatherby, this hearing has been convened to assess the events at Station Seven and to determine protocols for future deep-space operations. You’ve both submitted written reports, but we’d like to hear directly from you. In your own words, what happened?”

Hank exchanged glances with Joyce. They’d prepared for this, spent countless hours reviewing their testimony, ensuring their stories aligned. But standing here now, facing people who hadn’t lived through it, who couldn’t understand the desperate gamble they’d taken—he wondered how to make them understand.

“We killed it with salt,” Hank said simply. “An intelligence that spanned star systems, that could puppet human beings and infiltrate our most secure networks, and we killed it with table salt.”
