sing it with Clankers

So, in No Man’s Land, in the lost colony of Elly, in the semi-tropical continent of Brinar, there is a festival so old that though it’s called Thanks for the Boats, no one knows which boats, why thank for them, or whom they’re thanking.

But there’s food and liquor and …. the king has a new interest. Sure. Spying. Let’s go with that.

Without further ado, listen to the clanker singing about Thanks for the Boats

Update:

Missa’s Confession, or the Sea Is Dark and Deep, which starts a new playlist: Songs from Elly.

  1. I’ll catch it later*. Complication on post-op day so leg elevated and iced. /They’re pretty sure it’s not a clot**, but Test To Do, and Dr. to diagnose/decide. Arggh.

(*) I have most of the Compleat Hoyt and the Clankers: No Man;s Land collection. Drive to town was FUN.

(**) Probably not Deep Vein Thrombosis. Pattern looks similar to an old one on the other calf, but It’s Different. Ultrasound tomorrow, along with an unscheduled re-revision of a partial denture. OTOH the knee is fine. 3/4s yay.

    Prayers would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Ultrasound said no clots, so the money’s on infection somehow. Have a week’s worth of Keflex (anticipating the usual lower GI distress–at least I have a bunch of yogurt on hand), and a followup appointment. Staying in the comfy chair, legs up, iced, and that helps.

  2. Prayers soliciting for younger sister, age 67.

Their second cruise, back to back South Pacific, after the Japan island, cruise came to an abrupt halt. Sis stepped off a curb on one of the excursions (do not know where, I think they were past Vietnam, but IDK), slipped, and broke her ankle. Apparently badly. They got her back to the boat/ship hospital/medical where medical got it stabilized and in a cast. Stayed with the boat until at a port with major airport, at which point they were flown home. They are home now (LA *customs, SF, Eugene). Tomorrow start the US side of the assessment on what goes on next.

(*) Through the telephone gossip I understand they got a custom officer having, let’s say, a “bad day”. Things did not go smoothly. Finally got “someone else” (supervisor?). What? They don’t see elderly who have broken something overseas? Seriously? Home, so got it straightened out. Will try to get the info to share the gossip.

    1. …and Amen!

There are people who enjoy making others suffer. They’re attracted to jobs where they can spoil someone’s day. If they can have a uniform and badge and a stream of people who have to submit, it makes up for low pay.

(Not all cops, etc… but too many cops. The academies try to weed those out, but…)
