    1. Kind of fun to compare the various meme posts across the Vast Rightwing Internet. I’m rather fond of the GOML 3000 and the John Deere protestor harvester. Soylent Green FTW!

      1. I was thinking they should emulate the Germans and the way they handled the glued-to-the-asphalt protestors by pouring fast-expanding foam into those tubes around their chained-together arms, purely as a safety measure to cushion the protestors pink and pasty flesh from injury, then chunk out the concrete or jaws-of-life the doors of the cars they were chained to and release them under their own recognizance.

  1. The “why you need a gun meme…”

That last one being an AR? Disagree. For lots of tyranny, why not go with the classics? Cannon filled with grapeshot. Mow that lawn good.

    1. The ‘whiff of grapeshot’ is more associated with tyrants than those opposed to them, tyrants being more likely to have the resources to own cannon.

The lawn mowing metaphor is also more associated with tyrants than their targets, tyrants having a habit of cutting down those who stand taller than the average citizen.

I’m not really sure it changes things if you’re worried about a tyranny of the majority.

      1. In freedom land the cannon were traditionally private property. As were the cannon armed ships.

If it’s lots of tyranny, and it is specifically a “gun” meme (as opposed to, say, a grenade meme “to whom it may concern”, a long range artillery meme “dear grid square”, et cetera), then cannon as ‘gun’ packed with lead shot/scrap metal/ball bearings/3/8″ nuts would be my choice to deal with “lots of tyranny,” given the option. Once could also supply crew-served weaponry, naval cannon, aircraft mounted guns, and so on.

Your mileage may, of course, vary.

    2. Easier to tote the AR.

But if we are going to go with crew served weapons, I’ll take an M248 Squad Automatic Weapon.

        1. whoopsie. 249 they were brand new for 24ID when I got out. Fun gun. Spent -way- more time “feeding the pig” the M-60. But alas, the Mailclerk was only permitted an M-16A1 Rifle. (grin)

But we both appear to be fans of “chamber music”.

          1. I still fondly remember the first time I got behind an M-60 on a fam fire way, way back when. Much fun. Over too fast. My only question was “Don’t they make longer belts?”

What? Sorry, I didn’t hear you over the music. I must be all thumbs tonight.

    3. I need guns because the cops say they need guns – and anyone who says I don’t need guns is an advocate for militarized police and a police state.

Also, there’s an older meme I’ve saved the text from:

Enough debates. Just go out and get it already. It protects you, your family and everyone in the community. It’s been scientifically, mathematically and statistically proven to make everyone safer. The communities that got them are overwhelmingly safer. The chances of side effects or accidents are so unbelievably small that it’s completely absurd to not get one already.

Quit being selfish, quit arguing online and go purchase a firearm.

      1. ? A decent 10-22 with decent ammo can hit a man-sized target at 200m. The factory supplied sights are not well suited to that, but any decent scope or red-dot will solve it, or better iron sights if your eyes still work well

  6. Can anyone advise on the dot-webp problem?

I used to be able to right-click on the memes and save most of them for later distribution. Lately more and more have been not jpegs, not bmps, not pngs, but webp. Which if you right-click and hit “save image” doesn’t really save image.

Chrome browser, Microshaft OS, and no, I’m not too awful good at this. I last took classes on computers back in the days of version 3.1….which I liked. *irritated grumbling*

Occasionally with a webp that I really like I will screencap, open Paint 3d, paste it, crop, and save-as, but that’s a whole lot of fuss for each one. Is there a solution other than “keep doing that” or “get a smertfone”?

    1. There is an extension “Save as png” that I use with Vivialdi (chrome variant).

I have not tried simply changing the extension to png. That might work, I just haven’t tried it.

    2. I’ve had sporadic luck with right-click, open in new tab, then right-click-save-as, but not always. However, the one I found here where that did not work, I was able to right-click-copy image and paste it into Paint and save.

    3. There’s an extension I use (for Firefox, but I’d imagine similar would be available for Chrome) called “Don’t accept webp”. It simply has the browser remove webp from the list of image formats it tells the server it can accept. Which means that any standards-compliant web server (which is most, but not all, of them) will fall back to sending you a .jpg or a .png file instead of a .webp file. You might still get some .webp files from servers that don’t bother to follow the specifications they’re supposed to be following, but mostly you’ll end up with image formats that you know what to do with.

P.S. Sometimes the toaster swimming pool is more efficient, if you can get the pool party guest list right.

  7. Regarding the sixth meme (at least I think it was the sixth; it was the one with the angry women and the kitty) — reminds me of a joke I heard an elderly Scottish woman tell on TV many years ago:

It seems a young married couple was in a terrible auto accident. While both survived, the woman’s face was horribly injured. She needed a skin graft to restore any semblance of her beauty, but like the good, dedicated man he was, the husband volunteered to donate his flesh to restore hers.

After thinking the matter through, the doctors decided that the only place they could extract suitable doner skin from was the man’s hindquarters. They excised several sections of the fellow’s backside and applied them to his wife’s face. The surgery worked like a charm, and eventually the woman healed up just fine.

Not long after, the grateful woman said to her husband, “What you did was so wonderful, and I could never properly express my gratitude. How can I ever thank you?”

“No need to worry about that, my dear,” said her husband. ”Whenever your mother kisses you on the cheek, that’s all the thanks I’ll ever need!”

  12. Re “it is already illegal for non-citizens to vote”. Actually, it isn’t. The Constitution says something quite different: those eligible to vote for Congress are the same who are eligible to vote for the most numerous branch of the State legislature. So if, say, CA were to allow aliens, or even illegal aliens, to vote for the CA state House, they would also thereby become eligible to vote in CA for Congress.

Similarly, the Constitution says that each state will appoint Electors for president in such manner as the state legislature may direct.

It would be good to have a Constitutional Amendment that says only citizens can vote in any election anywhere (and it should likewise say that only citizens can be elected — which is already the rule for Federal office but that doesn’t currently bind the states).

    1. Only citizens should count for the federal census, and toward state electoral vote count. For foreign workers paying federal taxes? Thank you.
