Ladies and Gentlemen, Israel is under unprecedented attack this morning. There are many reasons for this:
Breaking: Israel under rocket fire; UPDATE: dozens apparently killed, kidnapped – Some of them are discussed here.
Israel is the bastion of civilization in the Middle East. It is also the ultimate place of safety should things every go that far froggy — as they’re likely to be under any seriously leftist government — not only for those who are Jewish and openly practice the religion, but even for people of Jewish ancestry. It was created for that reason. And for that reason the left does not wish it to stand. (Oh, possibly for other reasons, having to do with prophecy, but we won’t go there, because I dislike woo woo, even when it comes from my own head.) In many ways it is the last place of safety for civilization BECAUSE of that.
For those thus inclined, who are of a praying kind, please pray for Israel, and for the safety of the many Huns who happen to live there. And for those further thus inclined, send some edible morale to the boys in the IDF, so they know they’re not alone.
Another way for support, though more for the long haul: Save a life in Israel from thousands of miles away.
Thanks for the reminder to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Given the high level of outright hatred for Israel and Jews generally in the ObamaBiden regime, I do wonder if the US deliberately gave bad intel to Israel and/or provided intel to Iran to provide Hamas that enabled such a large scale breach of the border with Gaza. Hamas simply does not launch an operation of this size without the input, blessing and money from Iran, which they have plenty of given that Team ObamaBiden just handed them $6 billion. Given how feckless the regime is, it would not surprise me that part of the secret “deal” with Iran was to tell them they would look the other way if Iran decided to launch an attack, directly or through its proxies, to achieve its stated goal of “wiping Israel off the map”.
See: https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2023/10/doing-irans-bidding.php
The first statements from the ObamaBiden regime was to urge that there shouldn’t be “retaliatory attacks”, i..e. that Israel should not defend itself from the attack. Apparently between getting torched on social media and having even the EU vocally express that Israel has a right to defend itself, the statement was backwalked, at least publicly. Of course their actions will be to do everything they can to throw Israel under the bus and facilitate its destruction.

The CBC official take: those Jews were asking for it. And no, I’m not kidding.
The Official official statement:
“Canada is deeply concerned by the escalation between Israel and Gaza and stands firmly with the Israeli and Palestinian peoples in their right to live in peace, security, with dignity and without fear.
“We are saddened by the tragic loss of civilian lives in Gaza and Israel, including children in Gaza. All civilians must be protected and international law must be respected. Canada also condemns the firing of rockets into Israel and stands by Israel’s right to defend its security from terrorist attacks, in accordance with human rights and international humanitarian law.
“Canada calls for calm and immediate de-escalation to prevent any further loss of civilian life. We urge all parties to refrain from actions that could escalate violence and undermine prospects for peace.
“Canada will continue to take a principled approach, in coordination with our international partners, to support a just and lasting peace.”
I believe I was too kind with my “self-serving mealy-mouthed cod swallop” prediction.
And then there was the Shiny Pony. He said:
“Canada strongly condemns the current terrorist attacks against Israel. These acts of violence are completely unacceptable. We stand with Israel and fully support its right to defend itself. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this. Civilian life must be protected.”
Such a stirring expression of solidarity. Less odious than “Canada calls for calm and immediate de-escalation to prevent any further loss of civilian life” but still dripping with forked tongued lawyerly polish.
As to the Official Government of Canada statement, that is nothing more or less than a warning to the nasssty Israelis: “Don’t you dare hit them back! They can do whatever they want, and you better sit there and take it!”
What a great country, eh? I’m so proud.

Regarding our honored ancestors, it was revealed in the news that many “spontaneous” demonstrations in support of Hamas and their atrocities popped up in and around Toronto and other big Canadian cities.
Funny, I saw no mention of them being arrested, or for that matter having the ever-loving sh*t beat out of them by random passers-by.
I can tell you right now that neither of my grandfathers wouldn’t have sat still the way I am. They lived in a different time. I am -very- clear that random yahoos waving Pali flags are basically a honeypot. Little “let a hundred flowers bloom” provocations trolling for… me. And everybody like me.
Americans are more-or-less in the same boat, a little less far along if I am reading the tea leaves correctly.
And so we see the second of the Horsemen is upon us. War. I wonder how many it will take to wake up the sheep?
On a personal note, if I seem a little cranky today it is because I saw a picture of that girl they murdered and then dragged through Gaza. I urge one and all to avoid seeing any of this sh*t, it will just hurt you. That’s why they’re doing it, don’t give them any traction.
It is not our job to punish the guilty. God does that, and my condolences to him on being stuck with it. We just clean up and defend the innocent. That’s our job, the only one we can actually do when you get right down to it.

I can barely manage today. Only my bad knee keeps me home. 25 year old me would be out looking for Pali flags.
One of the reasons I write books is to keep my overactive imagination from working on things like Palestinians.
In my books I have some characters who can do absolutely anything. George McIntyre is a man stuck with power dwarfing that of a modern nation. Nammu, star of my novella “The Crossroads and the Oni” is ten thousand years old and made of the same nanotech as George.
Thus, I was forced to think about what you would DO if you could do anything. And I mean things like dissolve every gun in Israel to sand, or maybe just the terrorist’s guns, or make the whole place a glass parking lot from orbit. They can do that.
But having done it, what will happen? What will happen to the world, and what will happen to George? The answer, to me, is nothing good.
Once upon a time, a kind man named Roger Nolet explained war to the stupid kid I was at age 30. A Korean War vet, he had seen some shit. I will never forget this. He said, “You think you’re going to feel bad when you kill somebody. But you don’t. You say ‘where’s the next son of a bitch I’m gonna kill?!’ You don’t feel bad until later, when it’s all over.”
It made an impression.
So, if Nammu is ten thousand years old, she’s been here with the crazy murder-monkeys since ancient Sumeria. She’s seen this shit before. What does she -do-?
In keeping with the Bible, written by guys smarter than me, “Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord.” Why does it say that? Because WE ARE TOO SMALL to bear the weight of that vengeance. We’re not all-seeing. We’re not all-knowing. We are not going to survive the effects of what we do.
Therefore, my characters do nothing as hard as they can stand to. They clean up after atrocities, they thwart the actions of evil men if they can, but they don’t run around playing Fist of God, punishing the guilty. God has his own fist. If he wants the guilty punished, he’ll do it.
We just clean up. Today we’ve got a big freakin’ spill on Aisle 6.

They not only paid for it, the encouraged it. Just prior to the attack, a group of 20 Democratic Party Senators issued a letter demanding that the USA not participate in any peace agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia until Israel made yet even more unilateral concessions to the so-called Palestinian Arabs (important to note that they did not call themselves Palestinians until the 1960s when the Soviets convinced them to do so for propaganda purposes).
Meanwhile Democratic Party mouthpieces CNN and MSNBC blamed Israel for Hamas invading, ignoring the fact that Hamas and its Iranian masters oppose not only Israel’s very existence but also the very existence of Jews.
Given the demonstrable antipathy towards Israel and Jews of Team ObamaBiden, with numerous raving Jew haters appointed to key positions, is it any wonder that Iran and Hamas, which would not have undertaken this attack without Iran’s approval, have decided that now is the time for them to try to fulfill their stated goal of annihilating Israel and its Jewish population. They believe this goal is shared by the people running the White House and that if Israel seeks to obtain resupplies of military hardware from the USA, that the Democrats will prevent them from getting it (indeed I expect the amount of supplies sent to Ukraine to be used as a pretext for saying there are insufficient supplies to support Israel).

And do you really believe they would be so foolish as to put all their nukes in one place?
Now, imagine you own several freighters, through nested shell companies. On each is a pair of containers, top of the stacks, each contains 12 cruise missiles in launchers, armed with 100kt thermonuke warheads jacketed with u238.
One such ship could essentially depopulate and render mostly uninhabitable any minor nation on earth. Three could extinguish the population of any nation.
“Sampson”
Now, does a tiny nation like Israel have the money for a clandestine program to make 72 such warheads on 3 ships? A stretch.
Could they have three with six weapons? Easily.
And 18 would suffice.

The 1973 war was a greater threat to the survival of Israel. They almost managed to lose. The opposition had massive armies, tanks, aircraft. air-defense systems, antitank missiles, etc. At several points, it was a very near thing.
Now? Israel faces roving bands of murderous goons targeting girls, and random hits by amateur rocketry. The only thing that prevents the extinction of Hamas is Israeli self-retraint. In their shoes, I wouln’t be very restrained. “Kill anything in Gaza with a beard” comes to mind.
Israel routinely hits the top of a building with one small no-frag warhead, a “knock on the roof”. This is so that the occupants can escape before the second strike levels the building. The is even after dozens of antipersonnel rockets are fired from that building, intended to land in civilian areas in Israel. Or when the building is dedicated to Hamas comand and control leadership.
I can respect that restraint. But the Hamas and Hezboalla lunatics have violated the laws and customs of war so flagrantly and so frequently that they are completely outside those protections. Yet Israel insists on self-restraint. Remarkable.
We will now be propagandized by the usual simps. To which I pre-reply “FAFO” and “qaplah'” and “!ניצחון”.

My husband had a knee replacement in 2018 and has had trouble ever since. However, now that we know about his aortic valve issue and resultant issue with that side of the heart, I’m wondering if poor blood flow resulted in issues with soft-tissue healing.
Right now he has to finish a two-week stint with a heart monitor, and most likely the cardiologist will also want to do a catheterization to get a camera in there and confirm what the echocardiogram showed — but with luck the replacement can be done via a catheter, and recovery will be quick and easy.
In the meantime we wait, and I try to keep writing. I’ll be glad when we get through our last convention, because I have a whole bunch of projects that all want to get out. Some short stories for anthologies, but also longer works that will go directly to Starship Cat Press.

They were all chopped sufficient to destroy them, and the pieces arranged for easy monitoring by satellite and yearly inspections.
Even the static display B-52 at the Orlando Airport had its spine and spars chopped inside the fuselage to preclude reactivation. The Russians visit it annually.

On the plus side, we can get “tactical” aircraft anywhere on earth with arial refuling. But the last leg is probably one-way.

They have been trying to murder Jews since before the re-establishment of Israel in 1948. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, the religious leader of Muslims in the British Protectorate at the time, toured Auschwitz with Himmler when it was being build and asked Himmler how he and the Arabs could help the Nazis eliminate Jews. The Democratic Party at the time contained many sympathetic to that goal.
Nothing has changed, except that Jews in re-establishing Israel gained the ability to defend themselves, something that the left will never forgive them for.

The DSA banners openly admit they support the goal of completely annihilating Israel and do not accept its resistance regardless of borders as their banners refer to “78 years of occupation” which of course goes back to the 1948 re-establishment of Israel as a nation, rather than the 1967 Arab invasion that led to the re-capture of the West Bank from Jordan and Gaza from Egypt. While the left slanders Israel as apartheid, it is the only nation in the Middle-East that allows people of multiple religions and ethnicity to leave in peace with full citizenship rights, as long as they leave their neighbors in peace. The so-called Palestinians on the other hand demand a Judenfrei Arab Muslim state where all who are not “members of the umma” are at best a non-citizen serf class and at worse are murdered en masse.
No one should forget or forgive that the Democratic Party establishment and leadership has effectively endorsed the rabid Jew hatred of the DSA and its ilk for year. The “mainstream” of the Democratic Party, simply put, hates Jews. Any Jew who votes for Democrats is nuts.

Meanwhile in Germany…

Also, as I mentioned above, the dead young woman whose body is being desecrated by Palestinian crowds in the Gaza Strip has been identified. She was a tourist from Germany, apparently attending a “Rave for Peace” being held in Southern Israel.
RIP.

Israel has just formally declared war. This is the first time that it’s done so in fifty years (as has been noted, fiftieth anniversary of the Yom Kippur War).
Will Cain, a personality over at Fox, is reporting on his X feed that the Israeli ambassador to the UN has informed Cain that dozens of Americans are being held hostage in the Gaza Strip.
h/t to Instapundit for both items.

JPost wasn’t responding to my computer, so I made the mistake of going to Haaretz, and the worse mistake of reading the comments. Daaang. “It’s all the fault of you settlers, Israel doesn’t need the land, just leave Gaza alone and move out the settlers and this wouldn’t have happened, it’s because of the fakers in government too worried about imposing fascism instead of doing their job …” Wow. I’d have thought they’d take a day off, maybe two.
The Old Testament reading today was Danial 3:1-38 (the fiery furnace). Make of it what you will.

Well, Mark Levin is not on Fox tonight. The cable schedule says he’s supposed to be, but they’re showing a ‘Special Extra Hour of The Weekend Show’ instead. I wanted to hear his take on events of the last few days.
Like Lou Dobbs, Tucker Carlson, and others, one day he’s just not there.

Thomas Sowell on YouTube last night (paraphrased):
“Israel traded land for the promise of peace. The peace has been withdrawn. They MUST now take back the land (by force) or never be taken seriously again.”
