In vain I’ve struggled, reprise, with soft music

It’s been one of those days where I’ve been chasing my own tail.  Skipping chapter because I REALLY have to work on THrough Fire.

SORRY!

  1. Do what you have to do, dear lady!! I just snagged an autographed paperback copy of “Ill Met By Moonlight”; that’ll keep me happy!!

  2. Hum. While the authoress in charge is busy, would it make any sense to ask, “If you could have one question answered about Rogue Magic — one mystery solved, one bit of information — what would it be?” Or we could discuss casting, but I never know who the actors and actresses are that people refer to…

  3. Sarah,
I have to thank you for your mention of ‘Friday’ by R.A.H. in the beginning of February. I had been reading him since early 60’s when I got his adolescent novels from the bookmobile in Riverside, CA. I have over the years read almost all of his novels and I think, like you, he formed much of my sensibilities of what government could and couldn’t do. I didn’t reacall the rape scene you mentioned and by coincidence I had a copy next to my bed. I picked it up and was amazed by how much of the novel I didn’t remember. It wasn’t quite like reading it for the first time but when I read it I clearly wasn’t who I am now. I’ve spent the last month or so going through his books I have and they are all like someone snuck in and pasted all kinds of new stuff in them. I’ve now started on reading the entire canon once again.

    1. YES!
Also, with Friday, I hated it when I first read it, but since then it’s grown on me. I think I projected a lot of my issues with plotting at the time onto the novel’s semi-unstructured plot, and therefore hated it… Eh. Reading is an interaction of reader and writer. Where you are, where they were. It’s a meeting of minds, out of time, if you think about it.
