I’m trying to write the next chapter of Witchfinder — actually edit — and though I know what is happening, it’s just not gelling. Nor is anything else.
I think between the writing pace, the very busy holiday season AND the major cleanup, I’m a bit scorched, if not burned out.
I am therefore taking a leave of absence from this blog till Monday, when I’ll be back. I’ll make it up to you re: the free fiction. However, not today and not tomorrow. I’m going to convince my husband to take me to molest dinos and maybe a long walk in the park where he threatens ducks with roasting them. (It’s a hobby.)
Since I’m not really “burned out” just tired, a day and a half away should be enough.
Wish me luck and decompression.
Take care of yourself. [Smile]

All the world is in tune on a cold afternoon when we’re threatening duckies in the park …

Stuff happens.
BTW, I’m hearing rumours of a Jane Austen video game. Seriously.

I thought peanuts coated with cyanide was the traditional means of tormenting birds in the park. Threatening to serve them as dinner is probably less likely to result in angry cops I guess…

Does Gravitar serve up random images when you don’t have an account with them; or did someone upload WTH that is under my email as a joke?

Oh, I got one too! I wonder if it will keep the same one with this posting…

LOL. it keeps the same one with the same poster. It’s a “monster” gravatar. I picked it to assign y’all faces, so I don’t have to look at little grey silhouettes which depress me. This makes y’all look sooooo cute!

actually they assign you a gravatar the first time you post here. The owner can pick from a set and I picked “monsters” because I thought they were cute. It’s entirely possible I’m warped, but the abstract patterns looked like crazy quilts to me.

That’s what they get for not having a Pic with gravatar. [Very Very Big Evil Dragon Grin]

I guess that makes me oblivious for never noticing it before.
*sigh* Wouldn’t be the first time…

Don’t burn yourself out! :( Take a break if you need to because it really helps.
Also, I find reading fiction-related non-fiction books (wow, a mouthful) helps. I’ve just posted my next installment in my ‘Best advice I’ve learned’ series, if you want help editing your First Plot Point and your First Pinch Point. http://wp.me/p1WPf3-8M
Good luck :D

Jeeeze, woman, no need to apologize. Take a break. Rest up, get away from the keyboard. We all need to do it once in awhile. I don’t know how you manage to do so much most of the time anyway. Oh and I love ducks. Especially roasted and served in a nice honey sauce.

I wish you decompression (and luck). ;)
I hope you enjoy your break. It’s important to give yourself some ‘you’ time once in a while. :)

No problem. Take care of yourself.
I’d rather wait (a bit anyway – grin) for a better story and a happier Author.
Martin.
ps: what are these Dinos you are to molest.
Google suggests a choice between a greek mixing bowl, an abbreviation for Dinosaur, or a place to eat.

I love going to the natural history museum in Denver and looking at Dinosaurs. Someday — maybe this year? I’ll take three days off and go up with my charcoal and drawing pad and draw the skeletons then my rendition of the beasties. I’m thinking, though, I need some characters to come face to face with Terror Bird…

You should be sorry. Taking a day (and a HALF) off from plying your devoted fan base with free fiction, attempting to have a life beyond serving US?!? Hmph, the noive!
Where are your priorities, woman? Have any writers, on their deathbed, ever said “I wish I had spent more time with my family, having a life, instead of serving the ravenous demands of my readers for uncompensated reading material”?

I know. I feel SOOO guilty. It’s like leaving babies without food, when I don’t “feed” y’all reading stuff.

I hope you had fun! (I was at a convention, so, happily, I had other things to amuse me. Like telling people, twice, that no, Smashwords does NOT distribute to Amazon. Gods, that panel. Not a one true self-publisher among them, and misinformation to boot.)
