Come Back Brain, All Is Forgiven

Actually, the brain is here, mostly, but it’s completely immersed in tweaking Darkship Renegades and has not one spare grey cell for blog posting.

Also, I’m consumed with a sense of urgency and a need to finish books.  Maybe I’m trying to avoid real life.  Or maybe it is that I have FIVE books in various parts of “finished” and need to get them off my desk.  One of them, BTW, is Heart’s Magic with Kate Paulk.  For those of us who’ve followed our Valdemar stories — it’s sort of the first five of those, though we’re setting them in a slightly different world so as not to tread on Valdemar rights — we have the rights to the stories, of course, but it feels impolite to use a corner of someone else’s world.  Anyway, it’s been great fun redoing history and background and adding to the adventures of Ree and Jem, but I need to finish my part so Kate can do hers.

Meanwhile the Kit Marlowe Mystery stories (Juggler and The Counterfeit Gypsy on Amazon.  On the other outlets they’re under Five Dastardly Deaths) are not just outstripping all the Goldport sales, but they’re gaining speed and traction as they go.  So, why am I complaining?  Well, the first one is the opening of a novel which is half finished — Juggling Death — but when the heck do I have time?

At any rate, I’m taking marked up manuscript, clipboard and mp3 player to dining room and seeing if I can finish DSR revisions, with the idea it will be in your hands sooner.  Then I can finish Blood Royale which is on its second pass.  And then I can do light (well, they are) revisions on A Few Good Men.  And then I can finish Noah’s Boy and A Flaw In Her Magic.  And then it will probably be May, and I can collapse.

  1. Sorry, Sarah, you can’t collapse until Rye Crisp is done. Bwahahahahaha. Oh, and the Orphan Kitten mystery. You don’t want wolfie coming after you, do you?

  2. What’s the status on AFGM has it been picked up or is it going to be indie, and when might we see it????
Not that I want to press you, but you did tease us with those delicious snippets and I’m craving more.

    1. Well, it looks like Baen is picking it up. At least I presume I wouldn’t have a (rather mild) editorial letter for it if they weren’t, and because the cover assignment has already gone to the artist. I think they’d forgotten they hadn’t bought it yet, until I reminded them, so I don’t have a contract yet. I should over the next month. I’ll try to get it to Toni ASAP so you get your earc fix, shall I?
Meanwhile because I think at best you’ll see DSR and AFGM out in 2013, I’m going to try to have an indie Space Opera out this year, just to er… keep the poor starving fans going :)

  3. I need to stop reading this blog–I feel like a sloth. And DSR and AFGM will be out in 2013? That’s it. I have no more reason to live. I’m going to stuff myself with cheetohs and watch a Billy the Exterminator marathon.
